Triathlon has one of the highest female participation rates of all endurance sports in Ireland, with the number of women and girls taking part in our sport increasing by a massive 83% in the past four years.
Naas Tri club have combined with Athy Tri club and Kildare Sports Partnership to offer a women’s only introductory triathlon programme. This is a 6-week programme with 2 coached sessions per week finishing with a pool-based triathlon event on March 8th.
Starting on Mon 27th Jan, participants will be coached in swim, bike and run with a female only ‘try a tri’ event at the end of the program. It’s a collaboration between the two clubs for women in Kildare to give them a basic introductory program to triathlon.
Anyone that participates in the programme through Naas Tri club, will have the option to continue on with our general novice program leading to Try-Athy at the beginning of June. This will offer the training and opportunity to experience a longer distance race including an open water swim as part of our dedicated novice group. Hopefully then having enjoyed the training, racing and comradery, you will continue on in the sport.
The formal launch will be in Athy Rowing and Canoeing Club at 1:00pm on Sun 19th Jan. To register for the programme or for further information please contact Mary Walsh at 086 3427167.
